Class Descriptions

Activation

Class Duration - 45 min.

Doyou ever wonder how those figure skaters make it look so easy? Activation is a Yoga-Inspired Movement class at Krigor Studio is a one of a kind class you won't find anywhere else. Muscle Activation is often referred to as “rebooting” the connection in the body, or the reestablishing of the proper neuromuscular function in our bodies allowing our muscles to fire properly again; instead of getting muscles to relax, the muscles tighten and contract properly. If the muscles are trained to do their job properly, then these muscles will provide stability. Yoga, on the other hand, is a discipline that includes breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is often widely practiced for health and relaxation. The juxtaposition of yoga with Muscle Activation trains your muscles to go between a completely relaxed state while offering muscle stability. This is what Yoga-Inspired Activation with Krigor Studio is and what World Bronze medalist Zach Donohue strives to offer in his challenging yet rewarding 45-minute class. Athletes and exercise enthusiasts alike will be taken through a series of movements designed to reboot and stabilize while offering corrections and peace of mind.

Balancing Edge

Class Duration - 45 min.

Balance is key for everything including many sports from riding a bike to ice skating. The key is functional training that comes down to balance, stability, mobility and integrated whole-body training. The Balancing Edge with Slava Rozanski and Krigor Studio uses exercises that will improve your performance over time by programming moves that replicate actions both in and out of a specific sport. By mimicking already complex skills, and by choosing moves that train the same musculature you need for your sport, true balance can be achieved. By working on an unstable surface such as a yoga block, this class also strives to uncover physical weaknesses, develop smaller muscles that are not easy to strengthen while facilitating work on expanding symmetry using single-leg dominant movements. Over time, performing weight-training moves on an unstable surface can enable you to lift more weight and perform even more difficult movements and elements.  Any time you improve stability, you improve the likelihood of better performance across the spectrum of athletic goals, which is what can be attained through mastering The Balancing Edge!

Expression class at KrigorStudio

Class Duration - 45 min.

Expression class at KrigorStudio is one of our most popular classes and for good reason. Performance and interpretation are a major part of most art forms including, but not limited to, dance and figure skating; on the ice, these skills are what makes up a figure skater’s components or "Artistic" score and can make a skater stand out from the competition. Individuality and personality, plus physical, emotional, intellectual involvement, and projection can all contribute to performance, while expression of the music’s character, feeling, and rhythm, with the use of finesse, to reflect the details and nuances of the music fall under the umbrella of interpretation. Dancers and figure skaters can use body movement and narrative portrayal to bring the characters they are trying to represent on the stage or ice to life; but beyond that, facial expressions are another tool to tell the story to the judges, audiences, and those watching on TV at home. For any athlete looking to increase their performance in terms of artistry, interpretation, musicality and emotion, this Krigor Studio Expression class is a must.

Elite Stretch

Class Duration - 45 min.

Stretching is a simple and effective way to enhance athletic performance, decrease the chance of injury, and minimize muscle soreness. When you increase range of motion in the joint, you increase the distance the limbs can move and contract. By improving flexibility you reduce risk of injury because your joints are better able to move through their full range of motion. This can improve the muscle’s power, and your ability to actively control the muscles, resulting in a better execution of movement and an enhanced performance. Elite Stretching with Krigor Studio provides these and other added benefits of stretching such as improved posture, improved circulation by increasing blood flow to the muscles, increased energy levels, reduced muscle tension, and stress release. Tight, stiff muscles limit normal range of motion and interfere with correct muscle actions which can greatly increase the chance of becoming injured and is why you must keep up with a daily stretching routine. The benefits of stretching can be accomplished when flexibility training is applied professionally and diligently over an extended period of time. Vika and Krigor Studio will surely increase your strength and flexibility while fostering dedication, determination and stretching your limits!

Foam Rolling

Class Duration - 45 min.

Foam Rolling, or self-myofascial release, has transformed from a once mysterious technique used only by professional athletes, coaches, and therapists to a familiar everyday practice for people at all levels of fitness. Self-myofascial release is a technical term for self-massage to release muscle tightness or trigger points. Foam rolling can assist in breaking up these muscle knots through trigger points, resuming normal blood flow and function. This method is used by Krigor Studio by applying pressure to specific points to aid in the recovery of muscles and assist in returning them to normal, elastic, healthy muscles that are ready to perform at a moment’s notice.
